- This term (from the Latin fructus, meaning "fruit" or "profit") refers to those personal qualities bestowed by the Holy Spirit that prepare a person for eternal glory: charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, and chastity.
